The Conservatives' Betrayal: Why Their Inaction on Grooming Gangs Speaks Louder Than Words

Actions define leadership. Words are just noise. And if the Conservative Party were truly committed to securing justice for the hundreds of thousands of working-class White girls systematically gang raped by organised networks of Pakistani men, they wouldn't just be talking about it - they'd be using every tool at their disposal to force action. Instead, they've chosen silence where it matters most.

The Power They're Not Using

Here's what most people don't realise: As the official opposition, the Conservatives control 17 Opposition Days in Parliament. These are powerful opportunities to set the national agenda and force debates on issues the government might prefer to avoid.

These aren't just symbolic gestures. Opposition Day motions have created real change before, like in 2009 when Gordon Brown's government was defeated on Gurkha rights.

So why, since the lid was blown off by Elon Musk on New Year's Day, have they used these opportunities to debate "family businesses" and the "British Indian Ocean Territory" instead of one of the most horrific systematic abuses in modern British history?

The answer is simple: They don't want to.

14 Years of Calculated Negligence

This isn't an oversight. It's a pattern. For 14 years in power, the Conservative Party had every opportunity to address this crisis head-on. Instead, they:

  • Refused to publish a crucial report until public petitions forced their hand
  • Hid behind bureaucratic processes rather than launching full inquiries
  • Prioritised political damage control over justice for victims

When Boris Johnson dismissed historic child abuse investigations as "£60 million spaffed up the wall," he revealed the party's true stance - these victims and their suffering simply don't matter enough.

The Inconvenient Truth About Class and Politics

There's another factor at play: The victims were predominantly working-class White girls - a demographic the Conservatives have never viewed as their base.

This is the brutal political calculation: Why invest political capital in communities you don't expect to vote for you? Why risk controversy when it doesn't serve your electoral strategy?

It's easier to tweet outrage than to actually do something about it.

What's Really Stopping Them?

Three powerful forces are preventing genuine Conservative action:

  1. Fear of Backlash from Identity Politics The grooming gangs scandal shatters the dominant liberal narrative on race and crime. It exposes the consequences of cultural relativism, mass immigration policies, and the refusal to confront uncomfortable truths about certain communities. Many within the Conservative Party are paralysed by fear. They are afraid that aggressively pursuing justice in these cases would invite accusations of racism or Islamophobia from the media, activists, and even some of their own MPs. Rather than face these accusations, they've chosen the path of least resistance: symbolic outrage without substantive action.
  2. Political Cowardice and Electoral Calculations Despite their tough rhetoric, the Conservatives have consistently chosen to avoid issues that might alienate voter blocs they deem essential to their electoral strategy. They have pursued a policy of appeasement, prioritising political expediency over justice. They fear that tackling this issue head-on would damage their standing among minority communities, even at the cost of abandoning victims. This isn't just political calculation, it's political cowardice of the highest order. They know what happened was wrong, but they won't risk their political capital to address it.
  3. Institutional Rot and Establishment Ties It's no secret that grooming gang networks have had connections to political and institutional figures. Reports have indicated that police forces, local councils, and even elements of the government were complicit in covering up the extent of the abuse. The Conservative Party, deeply embedded within the same establishment that allowed these crimes to continue, is reluctant to open an inquiry that might expose individuals within their own ranks or their political allies. Self-preservation has trumped justice. The establishment protects its own, even when that protection comes at the expense of thousands of victims.

What Would Real Action Look Like?

If the Conservatives genuinely cared about justice for the victims of grooming gangs, they would use their parliamentary power to:

1. Dedicate an Opposition Day to the Grooming Gang Scandal

A full day should be devoted to debating the extent of the scandal, the systemic failures that allowed it to happen, and the necessary policy changes to prevent future abuses. This would put immense pressure on the government to respond and take concrete action.

While there have been multiple reports and local inquiries, none have had the necessary legal authority to hold individuals accountable. The Conservatives should demand a full-scale public inquiry with the power to compel witnesses and secure documents. This inquiry must investigate not just the perpetrators but also the police, councils, and politicians who enabled the abuse.

3. Strengthen Sentencing for Grooming Gang Members

Many convicted grooming gang members have received sentences that fail to reflect the severity of their crimes. The Conservatives should push for mandatory life sentences for those involved in the systematic sexual exploitation of children.

4. Strip Citizenship from Dual-National Offenders

For foreign nationals and those perpetrators with dual nationality, there should be no hesitation in revoking their British citizenship and deporting them. This is a measure that the government has used selectively, but one that should be applied consistently in cases of mass sexual abuse.

5. Hold Local Councils Accountable

Many local councils failed in their duty to protect vulnerable girls. Some even actively covered up crimes to avoid political embarrassment. There should be criminal liability for council officials who are found to have facilitated or ignored grooming gang activities.

The Cost of Inaction

By failing to act, the Conservative Party is not just betraying victims; it is sending a clear message that justice is negotiable when it conflicts with political interests. The refusal to use an Opposition Day to force this issue onto the agenda demonstrates where their priorities lie.

The grooming gang scandal is not just a historical injustice, it is an ongoing national disgrace. Until those responsible are held accountable, the victims will never receive the justice they deserve. The Conservatives had an opportunity to lead on this issue. Instead, they have chosen to look the other way, proving once again that their commitment to justice is little more than a slogan.

As citizens, we must demand better. Silence is complicity, and the longer we allow politicians to dodge this issue, the more we enable the cycle of abuse to continue.

The establishment believes they can wait us out, that our outrage will fade, our numbers will dwindle, our resolve will weaken. Help me show them that they are wrong.

No one is coming to save us. It is up to us. We are the resistance against lies, the ones who expose their cover-ups, and the force that stands against corruption. But resistance is not just about speaking the truth, it is about making sure the truth cannot be silenced.

For the last six years, I have documented the evidence, led investigations, and played a key role in the campaign for justice so that no one can ever say they ‘didn’t know.’

My work is 100% free because the truth should never be locked away. Unfortunately, exposing corruption comes at a cost, and this fight is only possible with your support.

If you stand against the lies, the cover-ups, and the corruption, help keep this work alive. At the very least, share it - because the more people who know, the harder it is for them to bury the truth.

But if you can go one step further and support this work financially, please consider taking out a paid subscription. You can support me from just 75p a week, £3 a month or £30 for the full year.

If a monthly subscription isn’t possible, a one-off contribution makes a difference. Every penny goes towards keeping this work alive.

We will not secure a National Inquiry without numbers, without strength, without your support. Please stand with me. We’ve come too far to let them win. But without you, we will lose.
