It is beyond absurd that Jim McMahon MP, a man directly implicated in the grooming gang cover-up, is now positioning himself to provide “updates” on the inquiry into these very crimes. The accused should not be anywhere near the investigation.

For years, McMahon was at the heart of an administration that ignored, enabled, and actively suppressed the truth about the industrial-scale abuse of vulnerable girls in Oldham. Under his leadership, whistleblowers were silenced, survivors were dismissed, and political interests were put ahead of justice. His track record is not one of transparency - it is one of complicity.
Now, instead of demanding a full National Inquiry with statutory powers, he is attempting to control the narrative around a weak, localised review - one that lacks the power to compel witnesses or expose the full scale of what happened. This is not about justice. This is about damage control.
The victims of the Labour Party block vote supplying Pakistani Rape Gangs deserve an inquiry that is free from political interference, not one where those with the most to lose get to shape the outcome. If there is to be any credibility to this process, Jim McMahon should be nowhere near it.
