Information forced out of Oldham Council earlier this year showed that only 13 of 60 councillors had a current DBS check. After the gangster affiliated Council was humiliated for allowing this to happen, the numbers increased to 29 councillors with DBS checks. That's right, as of February this year, the majority of Oldham politicians are still not police checked.

DBS stands for Disclosure and Barring Service. A DBS check is a way for employers to check your criminal record, to help decide whether you are a suitable person to work for them. This includes deciding whether it is suitable for you to work with children or vulnerable adults.

There are 2 levels of DBS checks, basic and enhanced. My understanding is that the Council only conducts the basic checks for their councillors on a voluntary basis. Why? You'll have to ask the gangster affiliated Council leader AROOJ SHAH.

I'm also hearing that Parish councillors, especially MARC HINCE's secret squirrel society of fake independents in Shaw, are avoiding undertaking DBS checks and that AROOJ SHAH's Labour Party run Council is providing them with assistance to avoid checks that would determine whether they are suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.

Maybe this was part of their signed agreement in exchange for HINCE & HOBIN propping up Labour. It is completely understandable why the convicted Failsworth fraudster BRIAN HOBIN (who was found guilty for defrauding thousands of pounds from his victims) would not want an enhanced DBS on his CV. But why would some of SHAH's other supporters want to avoid the checks? For instance, with a killer in the family, surely Cllr LISA NAVESEY would be fully supportive of enhanced DBS checks? Especially given her role in safeguarding children.

It is rare that I agree with Cllr HOWARD SYKES. But on this he has it right;

"It is completely outrageous that the council has allowed a situation where so many elected members have not had these checks. It has long been standard practice for all councillors to have a valid DBS check. This is a disgrace; and it makes a mockery of any claims that Oldham Council is getting the basics right...The Council is trying to re-assure the public about CSE but allows something like this to lapse, it does not fill me or public with confidence. No wonder, when I first asked for this information back in 2023, it was refused.”
