One of the most iconic scenes from last month's elections in Oldham took place at around 8.30pm on the night of the election. It featured AROOJ SHAH (at the time leader of Oldham Council) running up and down Fields New Road desperately knocking on the doors of what until then she had assumed was her Asian vote bank. With polling stations closing in just over an hour, many of them had yet to turn out and vote. She wasn't sure what had happened. After all, these weren't the White racists she had been worried would turn on her. They were her own. Or so she had believed.
